Lachesis operates Rooktel, a hobbyist telcom network which provides service to between one and ten users. Rooktel is interconnected with the PSTN as well as other hobbyist networks, including C*NET, TandmX, Phreaknet, and OCTOI. Rooktel also maintains direct trunks to hobbyist systems, including Phonenet, Litenet, and VR-Tel, among others.
Rooktel operates the 792-XXXX block on TandmX, Phreaknet, (and hopefully soon ShadyTel), the 792-0XXX block on C*NET, and the 7920-XXXX block on OCTOI.
Rooktel operates two Asterisk servers. One lives in the cloud and provides interconnection to hobbyist networks (except OCTOI), while another lives in Lachesis's basement rack, and provides phone service to his house and several other users.
Rooktel also operates some other legacy telcom hardware in the basement rack, including an Adit 600 channel bank for analog lines, a Cisco 2921 for the OCTOI trunk, and potentially an IP Office for the lulz.
